La Comadre Sebastiana is a cuento (morality tale) about a poor, hungry old man who refuses to share his last chicken with Jesus or the Virgin Mary, because of the inequity he's seen in the world and blames on them, but instead shares it with Death in the form of a woman (Dona Sebastiana). In return, she gives him the ability to heal. Whenever he goes to the bedside of someone dying, if he sees her with a candle by one end of the bed, he can heal the person. But if she's by the other end of the bed, the dying person is hers and the peasant must not heal them. For some years this works well, and he becomes well off, but one night he goes to the house of a wealthy, important person, and Dona Sebastiana indicates the person must die--but the former peasant heals him anyway. So she kills the former peasant. The end :-)

Really--it's in my literature anthology

Definitely the Chupacabra. (aka the goat sucker)

Google it and you will find a million alleged pictures of it and stories of sightings.
