i say voice lessons. their rates vary; my friend goes $60 an hour but i go $15 an hour. NOT singing lessons, voice. singing is based on performing, but voice teaches you how to breathe, sing on pitch, sing without developing caluses on your vocal chords ( christina agularia had them- thats why she can't sing really high notes!), read music, focus your voice and much more! Cd's aren't very good cuz they cannot correct you and you may learn all wrong and screw up ur voice forever.
if you go to a voice teacher make sure u go on recommendation-there are a lot of crummy teachers out there.

You can actually buy a CD type thing where it is voice lessons, and i think its like 50 bucks or whatever. Also, I recommend getting breathing lessons. Breathing has EVERYTHING to do with singing, trust me!!! Anyways, I hope that helps, and F.Y.I., actual singing lessons are pretty expensive, so I suggst the CD thing, you can get it at Fry's Electronics or Best Buy or something. Hope that helps.

sing from your diaphram more then your vocal cords. It'll give you a deeper voice. Also, DON'T EVER DRINK MILK before you sing. It covers your vocals in mucus. Hope this helps. Also, sing when you're standing or straighten up your posture. It helps your diaphram.
