Happiness does not depend on where you live..it depends on how you set your mind. It is a conscious decision not an emotion. You first must decide to BE happy and then Do it. The town you live in will not make you happy. What ever the condition is ,you must decide that that is exactly what you want it to be ...rainy ok snow ok whatever it is ok with you. Make the most out of what God has given you. If you can not change things then change the way you think about these things. When you change the way you think about things, the things you think about change. Like the old saying> if you can't fight 'em, join 'em.

I live in the Ogden area, and there is a quite a large Hispanic population here, it's only about 40 minutes away from SLC. Maybe you can find a group, organization, or church that will help you experience the aspects of your culture you are missing.

There is a lot to do around this area, I've lived all over the world and find it to be one of the most beautiful areas I've ever been to. Try getting involved in some local activities, grab a snowboard and take some lessons, go hiking, hit a Jazz game, being active is the first step toward meeting people and making yourself at home anywhere.

You didn't say why you were here or how old you were, but keep in mind if you are miserable, you are always free to leave! Even if circumstances prevent you from going right now, the world is a big place and eventually you should be able to live somewhere you love.

I do know it is very hard to meet people here if you are non-LDS, my nephew recently moved here with us and struggles with that. But it's not impossible, just try to get out and find something you enjoy!

Well, the biggest number of Latinos live in Midvale, which is called Little Mexico. There are over 60 Spanish-speaking Mormon wards, but if you're looking for a younger crowd in general, you can also try the Tropicana Club Royale on State Street and about 8000 South, also in Midvale. Winter is a hard time of year, I know. Check out some of the Latino markets or restaurants, and someone will be glad to give you more information on events, I'm sure. I like La Costa in Sandy, Utah, on 9400 South and 750 East to go eat, or El Huarache Azteca is good. If your depression continues, maybe you do have a move coming up. I liked living in Arizona last winter, in Chandler with events in Mesa and Tempe. Phoenix is a huge city with a lot of Spanish-speakers. Que pase buen dia.

I live in one of the oldest cities in the Northwest, that was incorporated in 1857. It was a military post before it became a city, dating back to the fur trading business and old Fort Vancouver, owned by the British. The last census, the population was 165,50 two years ago. It is a sprawling city, rather than having a big central downtown area. And it is minus sky scrapers or really tall buildings. The next large city, is Portland, Oregon across the Columbia RIver on it's southern banks. I live on the extended boundary of the city, which includes Hazel Dell, Washington, which was included in the city of Vancouver. It still has a rural feel and some farmland is adjacent to the sub- division where I live. The air is fresh and clean and there's no pollution of the city. There are worse places to live. And for now I call it home.

Salt Lake City actually has a fairly large hispanic population. I'm suprised you can't find hispanic friends there. If you're looking for an even larger hispanic population, move to California or Texas.

Have you heard of Salsa Chocolate? It's a dance club in Provo, I think. A lot of latins go there for parties.

Move to New York State with its open Welfare policy. To make you not so gray it will even pay your expenses to be in NYS with green cash, which can be used for anything to take away your feeling blue .
