Solve the equation for x by using the natural logarithm function.

1.3^X = 8

I don't know how to solve it using the natural logarithm function (y = ln x).

1.3^X = 8
ln (1.3^X) = ln (8)
X ln (1.3) = ln (8)
X = ln (8)/ln(1.3)

3^x=8
take ln for both sides

ln 3^x = ln8

x ln3=ln8
x= 1.89

Take ln of boh sides.You get (remember ln a^b=b*lna)

Xln3 =ln8 so X = ln8/ln3= 1.8928

ln (1.3^x) = ln 8
x ln (1.3) = ln 8
x = ln 8 / ln 1.3
