Ok im a 16 year old of Fijian ethnicity (island near austrailia) and im wondering why i cant do pullups. i can do like 2 on a good day. I work out only twice a week because of school and all. also i got my mind set on enlisting in the Marine Corps so i have to improve on my pull ups. i can already pass the other two parts of the physical fitness test. am i weak because i dont eat pork or beef? (never eaten pork or beef in my life) i ask this because red meat contains large amounts of iron that builds strong muscles

It takes conditioning. You need to get your body acclimated to the types of things you plan on doing.

Exercising twice a week probably isn't going to cut it for the Marines.

You should do SOME type of exercise daily and work on specific muscle groups (such as your arms) every other day.

Alternate muscle groups each day so the muscles can have at least 24 hours to rest after a good workout.

Beef and pork are sources of protien and iron. You need to eat good foods to give you the material to build good muscle. Supplements are good, healthy food is better.

Good luck!

You have to have very strong pecs. Yes, you could build more muscle if you ate beef because it contains protein, not iron. But, lugumes (beans and nuts) also have protein. Just eat a portion of protein about 1 hour before you lift weights. That should help.

well here it goes...if ur looking to build muscle work diffrent parts of the body diffrent days and up ur work out more than 2 days a week......like one day upper body.....another day legs.....then rest a day and do upper body again...also if you run alot dont do it before you lift because you'll be exhausted! Also try to eat foods high in protein to help build muscle !! And when doing ur pull ups try removing ur shoes and wearing light clothing and do as many as you can, if ur tired keep going try listening to motivating music! and as ur number of pull ups increase try adding weight to urself such as a weighted vest ect!
