They hold the fork in the left hand, the knife in the right... they cut their food up into tiny little pieces, and then they put down their knife, switch their fork to their right hand, and eat. I have never seen anything so hilarious in my life!
Why don't they know that you keep your fork in your left hand and only cut off a piece of food when you're about to eat it? The fork is never switched to the right hand.
Cutting your food up into pieces beforehand is very childish and pointless as well.

Isn't it hilarious how Britons hold their silverware and eat?
They hold the fork in the left hand, the knife in the right...they only cut off a piece of food when they're about to eat it and then proceed to hold on to their cutlery for the entire meal. Do they need a fork and knife for defense of some sort?

I'm an Anglo-American and am left handed so I eat like a Briton, but I don't see the need to poke fun at other ways of holding silverware....

Those of us who are right handed find it really hard to do anything just with the left, including eating. Why being right handed would I even try to eat with the other? I do cut a piece of food up 'only' when I'm about to eat it, most people I know do do it that way. Don't know where you've seen them do different.
I think you are being very judgemental. Are all the people "where you're from" like this? If you're going to make blanket statements and judgments, expect others to do the same to you.
Have a good day.

Cutting your food into smaller pieces is NOT childish. People have died from choking on pieces of steak that were to big. I don't know about you, but I don't want to die like that, so I cut my food. And just so you know....I hold my fork in my left hand the entire time (i am left handed). I don't know where you are getting you "information" from, but it obviously isn't a very good source.

I'm American and I always have the fork in my left hand. I usually have the knife in my right hand (except when I take a drink, I don't want to poke myself in the eye). and I NEVER cut it before I eat. Of course, I am left handed, so that could explain why I don't place the fork in my right hand.

No, it is not hilarious at all.

The manner of eating depends on the culture of the country, which for me, must be respected by everyone.

Asians, particularly chinese & japanese, eat with chopsticks.

Filipinos (in the Philippines) seldom use knives. They eat with spoon and fork. Spoon & Fork: to scoop the rice & viand properly, and Fork: to pick up the viand or cut it with the spoon.

In other countries, people do not use silverware. They prefer to eat with bare hands.

Perhaps, you're British or a European; your manner of eating is much different from Americans.

if you eat with chopsticks, the food was cut up originally because they can't be trusted with their own fork an knife at the table.
what do you suggest, put a whole side of beef on the table and just rip it to pieces ? either way it's just the way of different cultures.
i prefer chopsticks cause it helps me not wolf down my food

We are not blindly obedient to rules of etiquette. We think for our selves, not having someone dictate to us on how to use a knife and a fork. Following rules of etiquette is equal to having someone tell you what to do. Besides, there is a concept known as Equal Finality. (All things being equal in the end) We get the job done. Doesn’t matter how we do it, as long as we are fed.

You eat the way you want, and we shall do the same. I think it's a little funny how Israel can't seem to get along with it's neighbors, that would be like Vermont having a war with Massachusetts!
