Yes. It would free up law enforcement officers to go after real criminals, like pedophiles, pushers selling drugs to children, murderers, rapists, etc. It should be regulated, with weekly check-ups, mandatory STD/HIV screenings, and taxed just like any other income. Anyone operating outside of this system would still be a criminal and should be prosecuted, and anyone infected with a STD or HIV and still "working" should be charged with assault and battery or in the case of HIV, attempted murder. Condom and contraceptive use should be mandatory, and incentives should be offered to encourage prostitutes to undergo hysterectomies, in order to prevent possible STD's from being passed on to possible children. We should also legalize marijuana use, and regulate, tax, and sell it the same way we sell alcohol and cigarettes. If the police didn't have to waste so much of their time and effort in arresting the common hooker and occasional recreational pot user, they could focus on the real problems.

I beleive it should be. It would be safer, there would be a little more monitoring.
In germany and Holland it is legal, all prostitutes pay taxes and get checked for STD's regularly.
If you "work" while having a STD you face jailtime.
Using condoms is manditory.
Id say why not, if the demand is there, why not supply it. If a woman wants to offer her body, she should be able to do so.

Yes. Then the government can get involved, which may lead to my 'happy endings' to be less expensive.
