I guess he is having multiple siezers a day , he use to be a mechanic but now he can't function, they need help, they have given up their cars, and its just a matter of time before they lose their house, does anyone know what it takes to get disability, the hospitals aren't doing much for them because they dont have insurance.

I would look into SSI which is supplemental security income. It isn't a ton of money, but if the doctor thinks this is a long term problem where he can never work again, he will most likely qualify. If it is considered temporary until medications regulate it, he may qualify for disability if he has paid disability insurance. I would suggest contacting your local social security office and asking them or start with the social worker at the hospital.

They need to apply online or at the social security office immediately. They could also apply for other help with the department of human services or whatever it may be called there. But, they need to get going on the social security application asap. That will help alot and sometimes will be processed for certain reasons faster, if not takes a while that is when you fall on the department of human services to help. Could get temporary medicaid from them. Hope all works out. Good Luck www.ssa.gov

First of all have them go to their local Social Security office and remember to carry all of their Doctor Receipts, Xrays ECT. They will need all of these. Did they carry insurance on their home, such as Life Insurance/Disabilty?? It normally takes about 8 weeks to hear from Social Security, and if they are denied, the Ratio on being denied is about 70%, then they will need to take the Denial paper to a Lawyer and get started for a Lengthy process that can take up to 3 years. In the meantime, can he file for unemployment? Is his wife unable to work and help out any?

Call your local Social Security office. If he was working a certain amount of time over the past year he can get SSI Disability. Do it quick! Not much but it'll keep them from starving. Also they need to call their mortgage holder and see what kind of understanding they can get due to the medical emergency. Good luck.
