I studied how to go to alpha Level...the dream state... when you sleep ..and not actually fall to sleep.
You relax, and try to dream a little , let your mind wonder.but catch yourself from actually falling off to sleep, do that once every four hours for half an hour.
I did this while staying with mother who had cancer and when the cancer went to her brain i had to stay awake to make sure she didn't get out of the house.it was winter.
also to stay awake you stand, raise your arms, and throw them and yoyu upper body down between your legs a few times, this brings oxygen to the brain and helps to keep you awake, it helps also when your driving and get sleepy, it will wake you back up.

First rest. If you didn't get enough rest for a long time, it's normal you can't stay awake. So, first rest, long enough, allow yourself to do so. Then tell yourself the story in which you stay awake whenever wanted (by yourself!), like when you were before you couldn't stay awake. You tell yourself how it was when you stayed awake and change the tense of the verb to the present tense.
