it should work-- i dont know why unless u have an old computer that shouldnt be the reason though.

You need to RESET YOUR iPOD.
Set the Hold switch to Hold and turn it off again.
Press the Menu and Center buttons at the same time for about 6 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Things should work then.(don't forget to turn off the Hold switch)

this site will give you an ipod just for completing some quick online tasks! really recommend it, especially if you're broke but really want an ipod (like me).
