I have many fond memories from my National Park visits! I've been to the Grand Canyon (4 times), Bryce, Yosemite, Sequoia... and my FAV is Zion, over there in Utah. Been there twice and I love it so much that I wrote about it to share my enthusiasm...

Yes, and it's not close to Portland...do a mapquest for details. But you're looking at a full day of traveling to get from Ptlnd. to Crater Lake. Off the top of my head, I'd say it's an 8 hour drive or so. It's lovely..but most of the park is closed once the snow hits. They do not even fully reopen until very late spring or even into summer, depending on the snow melt.

i have been to the Yorktown battlefield and a National Park in Virginia, the Cuyahoga National Forest and the Little Bighorn Battlefield in Montana. I like the Cuyahoga National Forest because it is close to where I live and it is in the process of connecting to central Ohio so the walking paths may soon be hundreds of miles and it is stunningly beautiful at every season of the year.

Yeah. I've been to the Carlsbad Caverns, the Grand Canyon, El Yunque rainforest in Puerto Rico, and the smallest national forest in the U.S. on Adak Island, Alaska (13 trees).

When I lived in California with my family we went to Yosemite about 2 or 3 times a year. This was a long time ago, but we enjoyed it every time. It's a beautiful park.

I've been to several. I've taken the family to Mammoth Cave N.P. several times and highly recommend it if you have not been. Visit this site first for information on tours and activities. You need to register for tours in advance as they fill up early.

Glacier N.P. is by far the most breathtaking place I've ever seen. The "Going to the Sun" highway is spectacular. I recommend starting early morning and travelling east to west, the animals are out and the sun is not in your face.
