You are in real trouble if you don't know how to work this simple problem. To convert 10% to decimal notation move the decimal point two places to the left. (Any number without a decimal point displayed is assumed to be a whole number and therefore has the decimal point to the right of the least significant digit. In other words to the right of the zero in 10%.) That will give you a decimal number of .1 x 100,000 = 10,000 x 3/12 =30,000/12 = 2500. As you can see when you multiply by a fraction you multiply by the top number and then divide by the bottom number of the fraction.
