Hmmmm....what do you mean by censorship, exactly? Many people immediately think of the "powers that be" forbidding the publication of certain things. But censorship is everywhere. I censor certain things my children want to watch on tv. I don't keep inappropriate things at the school library where I work. The grocery store in my town won't sell Playgirl. My spouse and I don't allow bad language at home..... I guess the question is, when does good taste and judgment and become Fahrenheit 451?

Censorship is about as un-American as it gets.

I am against it. It must not exist here.

My state senator introduced a bill to do just that in Connecticut under the guise of getting rid of "negative" campaigning.

Meaning he wants it against the law for anyone to point out his voting record. That's negative!

Next he will get rid of free elections. You let your guard down and it could actually happen as crazy as that sounds.

i don't think it is necessarily a bad thing...i think we should have some standard and certain venue to air more freedoms...like for pubic TV...i think should be held up to a higher standard than cable because we should look out for the innocent (child) and try to protect them...but if it is cable the that protection falls more onto the shoulders of the parents because they pay for it...their should be a haven for all peoples...those who want to exposure to things and those who want exposure to everything and those in between...to much of one isn't good for anyone...

Hey Random,

It depends what an where, from an emotional perspective I'd say you have to be carefull about the young minds that view stuff, thats not being derrogitory of youth, but we've all been exposed to things growing up that maybe we weren't ready for at the time. Protect the vulnerable but allow us the choice.

no censorship. we have the freedom to burn our own flags. but we have to constantly fight to defend it. we aren't defending anything in iraq, and us voters aren't defending any of our rights. read over the military commissions act of 06. have you even heard of it? how did this not make the news? i rest my case. sorry about all of my questions in the answer.
