Is this a new behavior for it or has it allways stayed in the bole, some snakes (including boas) just like water. If it has allways done this then that is probably the case. If this is new behavior then it could be a parasite infection. Look on your snake for small white drops. These are mite droppings. If you find them then you need to move your snake to another cage with all new stuff (nothing fancy just enough to keep it happy for a few days. While its out of its cage clean its cage very well especially small holes in wood and stones. also put fly traps in the cage while the snake is out, after a week or two all the mites should be gone. During this time you want to give your snake medication. It could also be in the water because of a skin infection, in which case you need to get medicin for it.

My red tail boa (Boaz) goes through different weird phases from time to time. He just shed a few weeks ago and spent alot of time in the bowl just before that, humidity is where it should be, temp is where it should be, but for some reason he just spent 5 complete days in his water bowl. I fed him and when I put him back in the cage, he went into his hide like normal, in about an hour he was at the bowl and soaking. I thought that was strange (he usually spends the rest of the day in the hide after eating) but he stayed in there for days. I would take him out of the bowl and change the water and a few minutes after I put the bowl back in, he was back in the water. I didn't want to distrub him because I was afraid he might be getting ready to shed again for some reason, so I left him in there, making sure the water temp stayed okay. After the 5 day, I took him out and held him for about a half an hour and put him back in the cage. He stayed out of the bowl and later went into his cool hide and that was it for the bowl for now.
I guess what I am saying is that while you can predict what is going on with boas with some of their behavior, sometimes they just act weird. As long as you don't see the mites, the humidity is okay and temp is in the normal range; don't worry about it. He's just doing what he wants to do and with boas, especially when they get bigger; you usually need to work around them and what they want. lol, take care and I hope you enjoy your boa.

Sitting in water usually means humidity issues, whether for shedding or just general comfort.
You should get a humidity gauge. They are more tropical, correct? Then humidity should be about 60-80% for her to be completely comfortable.
What you can also do is get a bowl/dish of wet soil to put in the cage every once and a while. My snakes all love it, and then you can keep clean water for her to drink.
For the soil I use a mixture of mostly ecoearth (the bedding stuff) and vermeculite to keep in the moisture. Make sure you let it dry every once and a while so you do not get any mold problems.

She may be getting close to the point where she will be shedding. My ball python never leaves the water, they love it. They could live in it. I know what you mean and im not giving you some kind of scientific answer, im telling you some down to earth answers. The snakes love water. My pythons eat in the water. Make me best answer, would appreciate it.
