Why in the world would they think you are stupid?
Music lovers have been listening to Italian Operas for centuries! How many of them do you think speak Italian? or that specific dialect?
If anything, enjoying diverse music enhances your intelligence. You might be inclined toward learning that particular language or assimilate into their culture.
I love Celtic folk music- do I speak that language? Nope--but I love to relax with a cup of tea and let the music take me away.

It's wrong to listen to music period. It does nothing but fill the soul with false desires, takes people away from the remembrance of the All-Mighty and in most cases plays with people's emotions, mentalities and general outlook on life to the point people can be categorized to what music they listen to according to how they dress.

Music is universal. Lyrics do not have to be understood to appreciate the beauty of the song. It sounds like they need to expose themselves to different cultures.

You gotta do what you gotta do. If it makes you happy and you enjoy it, it's OK. Your 'friends' should respect you and the things that you like, or I don't think they're such great friends.
