The tropical rainforest biomes are usually seen as the most diverse as far as numbers of species. I'm not sure what you are looking for; number of species, numbers of families, etc. The rainforests are near the equator in S America and in Africa.

I would guess that areas near the beach because of the fluctuations in heat caused by water absorbing the heat.
