According to most archeologists, the Native Americans came across the land bridge between what is now Russia and Alaska during the Ice Age. Some people think they followed mommoths and other food animals to the Americas.

Can you believe those answers! OMG!

OK, the first humans in North American came from Asia across the Bering Straits and into Alaska. Eventually they made their way down the west coast of America into central and South America. They spread east across the southern USA.
AT that time, from about 30,000 to 10,000 years ago, the northeast and north central part of the USA and Canada were covered by great glaciers. As the glaciers melted the Native American people spread out to cover the land.

There is a lot of archeological evidence to show that these people were living all over the western hemisphere by about 5,000 - 10,000 years ago, but there is some argument about the exact date they arrived and how rapidly they spread around. Needless to say, it was a long time later before any Europeans arrived! The first Europeans were probably Vikings who had a settlement in northeastern Canada about 1000 years ago, but it didnt last.

No one knows for sure. Clearly humans came to North America about 13,000 years ago from Asia. However, there are scientists who now believe that the east coast of the US was populated by people from Europe crossing over sea ice in the north Atlantic around the same time.
