Because i was looking it up for a friend and it keeps saying that it was real and the cas has the same names of the charters but i could not tell. I know im and idiot but i dont watch a lot of horror movies could someone just tell me plz.

no, it was a college class project. The film students were all assigned a documentary style film. They made the entire thing up. But somehow it was discovered, and marketed as a "true" story. However it is NOT TRUE, that was just a marketing ploy. The characters in the movie are actually the film students themselves.

No, that is just the style of the movie. Much as the Exorcist scared people with its' documentary style. If you look in the credits, it even lists that the movie was taped in some National Park somewhere.

The Blair witch project was made by some film students for $37,000. They sold the movie at the Sundance film festival to USA Films. (At least I think that was the film company's name.)
