McGrady,Kobe,Tim,KG,Yao.
Can anyone explain to me how Steve Nash,Shawn Marion, and Amare Stoudemire do NOT make the starting line up in the western conference for the 2007 NBA all star game in Vegas?Even Dirk, whos team has the best record isnt starting, and was 4th in votes at the forward position. Its just a popularity contest.I'd remove Yao,and Mcgrady since they've been injured for most of the year, and I'd remove Tim and replace them with the 3 from Phoenix.

I hate shaq too.He hasnt even played much of this year and he still got in.But centers in the east are limited as it is.In fact i cant even think of a center in the east who would replace shaq.I'd rather see Bogut or Ben Wallace starting in place of him.

OMG i kno!!! it's so unfair!!! yao and mcgrady has been injured for like half the season, kg's not who people think he is, kobe is a ball hog, tim isn't playing like himself. i voted for all three 3 pheonix suns players every day. i thot at least steve nash should've have been in the starting lineup!!! even tho i don't like the mavs, dirk should start. he's acting like an mvp.

one quesiton. are all 3 pheonix players going to be on the bench or are they just not going to the all star game this year?

Rockets players, especially Yao Ming, receive a extra bonus from Chinese voters. The same year Yao was a rookie, the NBA announced voting would also be in Mandarin Chinese. He crushed super star Shaquille O'Neal for the most votes, though Shaq was leading the Lakers to another strong year.

Tracy McGrady, and any other Rockets player, receives the benefit as a teammate of China's favorite player. Rockets players are all illegitimized, and voting should be limited to the US and Canada, the only to countries with teams in the league.

Still, Yao is the best center in the NBA this season, and I'd take him over Amare 9and this is coming from a guy in Phoenix). Marion is a fringe starter, but better than Duncan or Garnett. And Nash... Nash is the best player, period. Kobe can take his good but not amazing numbers and take them to the Western All-Star team's bench.

well Yao isnt playing, and your right about t-mac but honestly i dont know how Nash wasnt voted that right there is a sick joke but honestly i'd put Dirk before i'd put Amare but considering your obviously a Suns fan it's expected from you, and as for Marion well that pretty much a toss up, me personally i'd start him but remember most the peole voting are 14 year old kids who vote for the guy with the "sexy" name think about it, Kobe, T-mac, KG, Yao these are all guys with one name names, not many people go around saying Nash, it's quite sad that people just dont know good basketball and this is coming from a Lakert fan, i just do have to admit that your team is playing some great ball this year. but yeah you pretty much said it, it's a popularity contest and that sucks.

yes unfair. if i were playing favorites, i would say dirk has gotta be in there. but honestly, how could steve nash not be a starter!

tmac is chronically injured with his back, yao has all of china voting for him (nothing against chinese, im just sayin where he got so many votes from!) plus he's injured.

ive never liked kobe. tim is kind of in the shadows this year in my opinion, but i think he deserves to play.

i would choose:
NASH
IVERSON (he wouldve won in the east)
DUNCAN
GARNETT
and i guess DIRK :)

im happy for the east though for the most part. ive been voting for CHRIS BOSH almost everyday, and DWAYNE is awesome. Arenas has been explosive lately, though not consistent, hopefully he'll be great at the all star game. SOrry not a LJ or Shaq fan. (in fact i hate shaq)

Your forgetting the biggest joke of all, Shaq an all-star! You've got to be kidding me. He plays in like 5 games and he's in. They have to do something about this finally. And Nash and Dirk are the 2 leading candidates for MVP along with LeBron and they have to settle for being reserves? I guess I should vote more than once next year.

You said it yourself, it's a popularity contest. People vote for their favorite players for starters. It's neither fair nor unfair, that just how it is. If you want "fair," then there should be no fan voting for all-star starters at all, starters should only be picked by the coaches and players, then it'll be "fair," or at least closer to being fair. Or, voting should be broken down by all five positions instead of just 3. But, even then, people would be going on about it being unfair. It'll never be fair to everyone's satisfaction.

to "still always correct" lebron OWNED yao, not even close in the voting this year...

however, i say that the west is absurd. if i were doing it, yao would be in except he is hurt. i would take out all of them except kobe, add in nash, marion, dirk, and amare. yao is hurt so he's out, and kg, duncan, and t-mac aren't even allstars in my opinion... fyi did u see charles barkley's eastern reserve picks... lol that was hilarious.

The starting of the all star game isn't about who is the best. it is about popurility of the players.
