I am a Filipino American who grew up here in the Philippines. I am going to describe the majority of the Filipinos in different ways:
a) Religion:
More than 80% are Catholic because we had been influenced by the Spanish for more than 300 years.
More than 80% are married and only a few percentage a living in.
b) Education:
Most are educated, more or less more than 60% are college graduates. They are sent by their parents to school. Unlike most Americans who have a separate place of their own, most Filipinos stay with their parents. In some cases, even married couples still stay with their parents and the grandparents take care of the grandchildren. The disadvantage is that some children dont work and are dependent on their parents!
Majority of the doctors are now taking up the nursing course. This is the easiest way out of the country. Most are granted immigrant status and can bring their family in the USA.
Even though you are college graduate, most dont have medical benefits when they work .
c) GOVERNMENT:
Most politicians cheat during election and are corrupt. They give money to poor people and buy their votes. Our country is one of the richest before, however, some Asian countries had surpassed us because of corruption. There will never be progress in the country .
d) as workers:
Majority are hard working. However, most jobs now are for casual workers with no benefits in most cases. They usually work for 6 months and transfer to other companies.
e) Negative feedback:
Some foreigners think that most Filipinos are prostitutes. This is only a small percentage of the population. Majority are still conservative. Prostitutes are not only found in the Philippines but all over the world.
One thing bad among some Filipinos is the crab mentality. They dont want their friends or other people to be more successful than them so the tendency is to criticize them.
Beggars are not only found here in the Philippines. San Francisco, Seattle and other key cities in the world have beggars.

Depends where they grew up..All of them are different.
If they grew up in Philippines they are MORE conservative.Since the Catholic churches influnces the goverment In the Philippines..they mostly look all the same.Black hair..simple..conservative..won't even wear a bikini at the beach in 90 degree weather.. The Filipino's in America are more liberated, and Open minded and excepting because the the school system teaches them to Be an indivdual and to express themselves..even nurses & doctors are have nose rings..and tattoos..or hair color..In the philippines thats not even allowed in schools.
I have Been and Lived to Both countries.

well first of all, filipinos are not all the same. im filipino american, and so my answer will not be biased and it is just my opinion. well heres what i think of some filipinos i come across......many may seem very polite and generous, and others stuck in an era where a woman lives for her man as if she were his servant/employee,and then there are the religous zealots (and i know a few who sin but think they are ttly redeemed because they go to sun.services), and for the person who said many view pinays as bar girls....hmmm i wonder why? hehehe...yeah there are many pinays/pinoys that are in an occupation where they sell their goods just like other asians and ethnicities who live in a corrupt government where they can make only 5 US dollars if theyre lucky doing something more legit , then there are the filipinos who may seem snotty ,OMFG i almost forgot about another group of pinoys i dislike the money hungry pinays who think if they marry a MILITARY MAN OR WHITE MAN that their prayers have been answered and will no longer live an unhappy poor life(hahaha, all that does is give them the notion that they can go bingo 24/7)and now for the ones i SEE THE MOST AND HATE THE MOST are the FILIPINOS who act like they are so proud to be filipino and act like they know everything about filipino history but .......WISH THEY WERE CAUCASION. now being a filipino my self you may be wondering where i would place myself....well id probably be in the snotty section just for the fact that im not always polite..hahahaha....so for the person who posted the ? are you, yourself a filipino? and what are your views about them? and for pinays/pinoys who may dislike what i typed let me say in my defense i hate all ethnicities equally. so i hope my views have opened a few ppls eyes and mind about asking a stupid ? like this because really ppl are ppl no matter what race you may fall in its just the stupid ones you have to keep an eye out for because they dilute other ppls opinion haha

We Filipinos balance society, in global context. If not for Filipinos, who will patiently nurse and provide bedside care to old and sick Americans, Canadians, and British? Where will Vietnamese real estate developers look for masterful yet cost-efficient architects and help them paint their skies with state-of-the-art skyscrapers? Where else? In the Philippines! Suicides and "harakiri" in Japan have remarkably decreased over the years since the "Japayukis" or Filipino entertainers started to proliferate in megacities like Tokyo and Osaka. American consumers have since become tired with having most of their calls routed to Indian technical support and customer service representatives due to heavy accent, where else can American outsourcing companies look for the best alternative? We Filipinos apparently can answer the world's labour needs.

Filipinos are great. We are hospitable, nice, honest sometimes, beautiful, gorgeous, kind, talented, responsible, hot, has a natural beauty, benevolent, cute, understanding, loveable, smart, hospitable and also a good cook. Now, many say Filipinos are like prostitutes, how come they said that thing, maybe the one who said that is a prostitute. Others also say, we just want to marry white men, no it isn't maybe those white men want us because we are attractive, the one's who said it, are you jealous of our natural beauty? Yes, I admit we are jealous, that's because we are born on a place where there is poverty, we don't have a lot of wealth to show other countries and nations, but we have a lot of talents. We are not bossy, we are just happy because we have succeed.

Like everywhere, there are good and there are bad. If the range is from the loving filipina wife to the Muslim extremist to the hustling bar girl to the dedicated school teacher, it is impossible to explain. My girlfriend is a loving mother of 4 children in the Philippines who is working long hours in China to support her family; she is a good person. There are separatists willing to bomb and kill people who do not agree with them; these are evil. If one has to make a very general statement: most filipinos are good, hardworking people living in a very poor country.

my father told me, as did his father told him as a young man, "pick your mate with the eyes of a blind man". i believe that this goes for your friends and so-on. in other words, Filipinos are no different than anyone else. it is the person within that is of true value. by the way i have two beautiful grown children. they are both of Filipino decent.

I'm pinoy(slang for filipino), blood and soul. I think my people are mostly god fearing, most hospitable, intelligent and serious. Physically, we are tan in skin color(I know, I know some people want to be tan...), height is mixed becuase filipinos are mixes of races, we have black, silky hair, brown to black eyes, Chiseled jaws and ost of all, HOT!

I married one. They are friendly, happy (most of the time), fairly hard workers, a bit low on imagination (like 50 stores side by side all selling the same thing, or a jeepney design, dangerous and 60 years old). Very jealous, Very catholic, many beggars. Most of the ones you can trust are your in-laws.

Some are nice, some are not. Just like any other people with different nationality. A person's attitude depends on the kind of upbringing that he/she had.
