Claosaurus' name means "broken lizard" because of the jumbled up position of its fossil.

It was originally named as Hadrosaurus agilis, but was later moved to its present name when the differences between Hadrosaurus and the specimen were discovered.

It was discovered in Kansas near the Smoky Hill River.

This dinosaur was discovered in a time period called the "Bone Wars," because two men, Marsh and Cope, were competing for dinosaur bones.
