They have hpts at the dollar store for $1. Whats the difference between thoses and the ones that cost $9 or $10?

They worked for me!! But they supposedly don't work as well if you're testing really early. For example, they may show a false negative if you test a few days before your expected period whereas the more expensive name brands can tell you that you're positive up to 4 days before your missed period.

The Dollar Store brand requires slightly more HCG in your urine but works just fine if you're already late.

There is little difference. Some tests are more sensitive than others, but it isn't cost that makes the difference. Take a look at the chart below for different sensitivity levels and a better explanation.

Yes, so long as you've already missed your period and have high enough hcg levels to be detected by the cheaper test. The more expensive test can detect much lower hcg levels, thus allowing you to possibly find out before you actually miss your period, though they have a higher rate of false negatives before you miss your period.

They work just as good or even better I know our local health dept uses the same test as the dollar stores

my 1st pregnancy i used an expensive one and it actually came back negative, the next day i bought 3 dollar store tests and all positive.. also tonight i bought 2 and positive again.. so they definately work. =]

NO difference.. it is the same for drugs that are sold at generic prices. You just need to compare the "active ingrediants". Most of the time, they are the same thing and you are paying for a brand name.

I've heard there are no differences if you have missed your period but the more expensive ones are better for early detection of pregnancy
