Who thinks that black history month is stupid?? I know I do!?

well i think its stupid because everybody's ancestors were slaves at some point, and we're all supposed to be "equal" so that's gay. and why do blacks have their own national anthem too. it's unconstituitional. we're all supposed to be equal so w.e. and also blacks have their own miss america pageant. now if there was an oriental america pageant or a white one, everyone would go crazy because it would be "racism"

The day it becomes stupid is the day when every race is equal, when no race is left out, when every adult and child understands what the African American has gone through to survive slavery, racism and racial profiling. When everyone is truly equal then it will be stupid and that looks like it will be a long while from now when people like you think one lousy simple little month is stupid!

do you even know where the term history came from? i don't think you do. as slaves,history was never explained to them. in other words they were told they had no history. finding out that they did had a major impact. not only has it impacted african americans, who knew nothing about black history, it also impacted other races. maybe if your ignorant *** would try to learn something during black history month(or anytime) you would be surprised to know that probably more than half of the everyday things you may use in your home or elsewhere was invented by a african american. learn something, you may just become smart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well there is no such thing as white history month or Asian history month, so I can see why you think it's stupid, but saying that is very insulting. There are important things they discovered or invented, and if not for them the world would be so much more different, in a bad kind of way, than it is today. You shouldn't hate, appreciate.

I think it's stupid just as I think it's dumb to have a Hispanic history month. I'm Hispanic but why can't we have a white history month? Aren't we all equal? We need to stop separating ourselves into colors. This is unnecessary and is simply idiotic.

I do not see the need for it. I believe it only serves to propagate the divisiveness already present in the proletariat. Homogenization is not a reality, but separation seems to breed contempt.
I see no need to do away with it either. It is a touchstone, as it were, to peoples reaching for something.

In the U.S. it was the African-Americans that were denied basic civil rights, owned as property and beaten and murdered because of the color of their skin.
The reason we need Black History month to educate ignorant people like you that racism is unacceptable and should not be tolerated.

By saying that you have insulted millions of people around the world. Febuary has been dedicated to celebrating the enormas culture, traditions, and history of an entire race of people. It is something that should never be forgotten. If you just spent a few minutes glancing through the past of African-Americans, you would realize that what you just said could not be more wrong.

May I remind you that we do live in America and that we are free to do most anything we please, and if that includes Blacks having their own national anthum and month and everything that's fine with me. America was founded by whites, so our culture was originally European. Then Africian-Americans came and added so many new cultures and traditions to our country. To simply disreguard all that would be barbaric. Black history month was created in order to preserve that unique culture so it wouldn't be forgotten admist the white, European culture. Hey, if Hispanics, Asians, and any other nationalities want their own month and national anthum and everything that's fine with me. America in one of the few countries in the world where people of all backrounds are accepted and that acheivement should be celebrated.

Also, no other race has gone through as much torture in our country as African-Americans. No other race has made so much progress in reguard to their rights and how they were treated. It was a revolution. And to just throw all that away would be horriable. We should remember their struggle, and celebrate the enormal progess they have made.

As for a "White History Month", white history, everything from the founding of our country until the present has been white history. By creating a Black History Month, we have simply selected a small portion of the year and dedicated it to the rememberance of Black History.

You say that we should all be equal and to distinguish African-Americans from everyone else is not being equal. It is not that we are saying that blacks are not equal and their culture shouldn't mix with ours, WE ARE TRYING TO PRESERVE A HISTORY OF UNIQUE CULTURE AND TRADITIONS THAT SHOULD NOT BE THROWN AWAY. In my opinion, if we were to disreguard black history month, it would be more like saying your culture traditions, etc. are not as important as ours and even though they're different, they should just be blended together with the rest of Americas. By creating a special time for remember Blacks achievement we are saying that they are equal and that they deserve recognition because of their unique culture.
