I've been out of the business for 10 years or so and when I took a Quark file in to a service bureau they told me everybody uses pdf files for output...that just cant be true, or is it?

Quark usage has decreased in favor of Adobe products. InDesign and Illustrator are generally the tool of choice.

Proffesional image dressmaker's who frequently do web content and proffesions like that use- Adobe Photoshop 3.0 it is a favourite software for coming up and modifying pictures for the information superhighway. With Photoshop, you could replace the colour, length, and scale of images between different issues I reccomend occurring Youtube once you're going to do it, it is quite complicated to get used too :)
