Eragon-I read the book and while entertaining, the structure and development was not very deep and I did not continue to read the series.

Chronicles of Narnia--the books are beautiful and the movies even more so, in my opinion; I feel really attached to these because I grew up with them.

Harry Potter--I think it's a really fun story and I love the friendships, but it doesn't have a strong timeless feel like Narnia or LOTR.

Lord of the Rings--seen the movies and read the book, an utterly beautiful journey and my favorite along with Narnia.

yes I have read and seen all of the above, and I have got to say that I have never found a film that was better than the original book, they always miss so much out or change some important bit of the story so that the film can be more hollywood.
But by far the best of the films is Lord of the Rings you could tell the director was a fan of the book and he did a good job on the visual side by using the best tolkien artists to create the feel of the movies. There were bits missing from the story and bits that had been made up but I was pleasently suprised when i saw it, and i even stopped sharpening my sword with which i had intended to cut off peter jacksons head if he had made a complete f**k up of it. I thought Eragon WAS a mess though with so many things wrong that i don't have the time to list them all.
I liked the start of Narnia when they come out of the wardrobe that was just how i had pictured it in my mind as a child but the battle was abit weak and the white witch was a let down.

Narnia is the only one of those movies that I have seen and I really liked it, but when i went to read the book I did not enjoy them as much. I guess I should have read the books first. I don't really care to watch Harry Potter movies or Lord of the Rings, I am surprised that I liked Narnia that is really not may thing, I have never even heard of Eragon.

Yes, I've seen all the movies, except the one's that aren't out yet, and read all the books, except the Harry Potter and the Inheritance that aren't out yet. My favorite would probably be Chronicles of Narnia for books. That's a great series. But for movies, it would be a tie between Narnia and Lord of the Rings, because the Lord of the Rings movies are marvelous, as is the Narnia movie. I can't wait for Prince Caspian to come out!

I haven't seen Eragon yet, but the other three you named are some of my favorites. My favorite is all three of them for different reasons. I have read the LOTR: Fellowship of the Rings and I am currently reading the Two Towers. I have read all of the Harry Potter books (excited about the seventh one!) and I have read two of the Narnia books, although I own all of them!

I've read all the books, and seen all the movies but Eragon. I'd have to say I like ALL the books, but the movies just never do justice to the books.

The Lord of the Rings movies were my favorite. Each movie was such an incredible adventure. The scenery was beautiful and the characters were so well done. I haven't read any of the books. I did read (and love) The Hobbit.
