We are working in a hotel everything i do is always wrong for her and i can't understand why she is so mean to me. She is over 50 years old and I'm just 21 years old. Suppose to be we we're friends becasue we came from they same country. She is not really my supervisor.I do everything she told me.If she tell me to redo my work again i follow her but it's still they same. She treat me bad. IS this because I'm just new here that's why she treat me like this?..or this is really her attitude?..but she is nice to other people but not to me. I tried to be friends with her. I am a nice person and i just can't understand why she don't like me.

It's hard to work with someone like that. You need to sort it out quickly.

Talk to your supervisor and ask her opinion of your work. Tell her you want to do a good job and you Think you are doing a good job, but this other woman says you are not.

Ask the supervisor if your work is good enough. If it's not, try to improve it. If it is ok then just tell the other woman that your work is fine, you checked with your supervisor. Tell her to go and talk to the supervisor if she has a problem.

Don't put up with it, you'll be very unhappy in work and that's not healthy.

It sounds simple - you are the young and pretty filipino women - which makes her the old filipino woman. You are invading her unique space with a younger and better model! She is jealous of you and the only thing she can think of is to belittle you to make her feel better than you. She has self confidence issues.

Not sure what you can do - but maybe invite her to your home or something outside work (only the 2 of you) where you both interact without any one else from work present. This way she will see you are really nice and will befreind you. Then the work problems will stop and you will be friends. None of this will work if she is just a mean and nasty person (to everyone).

Expect the unexpected. Now you realised that not all Filipinos in America care for their fellow Filipinos. They don't give a damn you're their kababayan if you're not a relative and new to the place.
Americans today are so noisy about illegal immigrants. They hate the Mexicans and not being contented with their border patrol, they also build border fence.
If you're legal, you have no worry at all. Next time, invite this other Filipino to a dinner with your family. Maybe, she's the illegal posing as legal.

It is my observation that people from the Philippines, especially Filipina, are always very mean to one another. I'm sure jealousy plays a big part. I observe that jealousy is a big part of the culture in the philippines. Even those with absolutely nothing like to pretend that they are "better off" than others. I have spent a lot of time in PI and the one thing thats most noticeable to me is that the people are very nice to me, and other foreigners but, brutal to one another. I suggest that you don't socialize with this older filipina. It won't get any better. Another thing to consider, and I've run into this problem with my wife......If you are young and pretty the older ones automatically assume that you come from the bar. Try to ignore negative people and live your own life to the standards that you set, not others.

Who knows? She seems like a nasty crunt, but maybe she is trying to help you. You actually might be doing some things wrong or you could do them better. If she is simply riding you, maybe it is because she's proud to be a Filipina and expects only the very best work from a fellow Filipino. It might be similar to boot camp in the military ... your new. When boot camp is finished things get much better.

Don't be affected by her negative attitude. Since she's a negative person, try to ignore her. If ever she will confront you in doing the wrong thing, simply smile at her. Most probably, she wanted to show you that she can bully you. But then, smile at her and ignore her.
Do have a nice day and GOD WILL HELP YOU.

i'm kind of like in the same situation as you. i think that the SOME older filipinas are threatened with younger filipinas because of the threat of losing their jobs to someone younger. or the fact that the younger person knows more than the older one. i know for a fact that my coworker is threatened because i know more than she does, and i can pick up things easily than she can. that's why she tries to finds my mistakes and always backstabs me. older filipinas (some) are more likely to CHISMIS too. so watch out for that. i say do your own thing, and learn how to talk back. i talk back to her now...because i refuse to take any of her crap...now she knows that i'm not just going to back down. in front of me, she's my friend...but behind my back...she's a jealous freak who's out to get me fired.

i'm a filipina, 26 years old, and i've come a long way. i've went to school to get to where i'm at. she just got her job out of seniority because she's worked there for ages. so i think that your "older" friend is bitter towards you because she's just not happy in life. so yah, just do your own thing...and since she's not your supervisor...the dont even talk to her. haha.

maybe she doesn't like the fact that you are from philippines too. Most likely she wanted to be the only one from that country and then along came you ruining her little I'm alone act.

It's the "crab" mentality. She views you as a threat to her job and is just jealous. Ignore her and do your own thing.

its simple, dont follow her. shes not your supervisor..
shes treathing you that way because you are tolerating her.
if she ask you to do this, do that, then tell her " Are you my supervisor? since when? I did not receive any memo?".then lefy her..
Its proven...i did that already.

Give it a try
