I know this might sound crazy, but in the Star Trek series the Earth is such a better place to live. Also if you look at their history it kind of reflects what's currently going on in real life wars, poverty, racism and etc. But for some reason space exploration and discovering other intelligent beings united the people of Earth. All that petty stuff I mentioned really doesn't exist in Star Trek, so is there a possiblity that something like that could occur in real life.

Precisely. Star Trek--and, for that matter, other films and stories--help us see positive possibilities. And that's very worthwhile. Especially when we look at teh deplorable state of affairs today. It helps to be reminded that's not the whole of humaniity--and that we do have a vision of something better. And if we can visualize it, think about it--maybe someday we or our children can achieve it.

I think there are a lot of lessons to be learned from Star Trek. It all seems so much easier to understand when it's aliens rather than humans that are slightly different in shape and color. The people of Earth won't change anything until it's ABSOLUTELY necessary.... that or it will be total war, and we'll become extinct. I think if another species did come to this planet and introduce themselves, it would cause humans to band together... tragically displacing the current hate for differences in ourselves into hate for differences between humans and the visitors.

Science fiction can make you think of the realities it mirrors........Remember it's Science FICTION and Star Trek is Fiction based on reality...........It's not the other way around........

As long as there are ignorant people in our real world racism will go on..........It's getting less but far from being less enough......Poverty will always be a part of our world........Wars will always be a part of our world as they have since the beginning of time..........To me, that's ignorance personified......

We do whatever we can to make things better, each in their own big or small way.........The ignorant people need to be educated and get off their ignorant thrones and learn that every race, every nationality etc., has good and bad people........That's a person to person thing, be it white, black, latino, oriental or anything else.....It's not a racial thing and somehow, some way the ignorant ones need to open their eyes and realize it............CAT

One of the biggest lessons is that all people of every nationality, language, race, and religion and even aliens can and should learn to live and work together. Just look at the Klingons, in the Star Trek universe, we fought with them for centuries and then in the 24th century there's a Klingon security chief on the Enterprise!

I doubt that something like that will happen in real life but if Star Trek got you thinking about science and space and astronomy then it has achieved a good result.

Star Trek has taught me that Vulcans can't dance, and the Prime Directive was made to be broken.

Its like this in star trek on earth money is no longer used, the love of money is the root of all evil, no money = less violence = better world, but I don't see any signs of us getting rid of money anytime soon

I agree with Han Solo. It's gonna take a pretty big catastrophe on a global scale to change the way the majority of us think and act.
