Because the Japanese government bombed our military base. But their plan was that after they captured all of Asia they were going to actually invade California.
The people of Japan were not really to blame for the war, they were forced into the war by psychopaths who wanted more power.

It was not the people of Iwo Jima but rather the Japanesse that we were fighting in the Second World War.

we didn't battle the people of iwo jima !we battled the government of japan!!

the japs had control of the island that was between us and japan the planes couldn,t really make the round trips so the air strips on the island were very important so we fought them for it and won. the end
