How can I fix my PSP's sleep and brightness mode?

I downgraded my TA-082 PSP from firmware 2.71 to 1.50 but now my sleep mode is reversed. "Normal" mode is when the screen is blank. And when it goes to "sleep" the screen goes back on again. Is there any way to fix this?
