Historically, almost every government, and certainly every world power, has begun a decline and dissolution at around 200 years of age, + or - a generation or two. The histories of Rome, Greece, and others show that after affluence is broadly experienced, and the populace finds that its government can be corrupted by favors or other incentives, that an inevitable decline and decay sets in, from which few governments have been able to extricate themself.

Yes and it's based upon the idea that 'power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Most governments get a honeymoon from the voters. This honeymoon does not last long because the snipers are out there trying to get them. Almost within days of taking office, most governments are facing some new scandal. "Minister found naked on Hampstead Heath". You know the sort of thing and it goes from there until the final stab wound finishes off the government and we get an election. Hurrah!

I would say yes, as soon as you start to lie, job done. This dictatorship we have in the UK will go down in history as a complete fraud. And the sooner this lot self-destruct the better.
