why when you are in america is everyone so scared of everyone? i mean...if you go up to someone to ask for directions to somewhere or something most people think you are going to hurt them or something and run away. my mate went up to a policeman just to ask for directions to somewhere and the policeman reached for his gun and told him to back off! what the hell is wrong with you people?

I am not scared of people.(and i dilike how you pointed out that something is wrong with all americans becasue that is not true for all of them I am very loving and accepting of people so if somone asked me for the time of day i would gladly give it to them because i would be graitful to someone if they did that to me. ) --- treat others as you would want to be treated--- I think people should not juge people right away.... it is not right. But if you have a feeling in the pit of your stomah and are scared I think it would be polite to just move away from the person and say politly I have to go some where i am late sorry, then leave. But we live in a generation that is scary and hateful and gory and not very safe, so that may be why everyone is so afraid.

I think its because they believe the bullshit that their president spouts about terrorists everywhere. Oh that and the fact that the rest of the world does indeed hate them and their overbearing money/oil driven foreign policy, not forgetting their xenophobia and the seriously mistaken belief that their so called democracy makes them free and gives them the right to tell all other cultures how to live and what government to have.
The end result is that they know they have f**K*d up a very large number of peoples and countries, they know that what they did was wrong. So now they are waiting to get whats coming to them and this makes them flinch or overreact whenever they see a non american

it depends on what city you're in.
Some places are extremely dangerous and that cop could have either been attacked by some lunatic who 'pretended' to ask for directions before mugging him. or he's just some psycho.
But I agree with some of the other posters. is this the full story? you're not leaving anything out....if what you say is true, then report that cop, he's obviously unstable.

This is an absurdly violent country. I mean, people are killed on the freeways for cutting someone off!!!! My friend had her car keyed for getting to a parking spot first.
There are gangs, rapists, it has the higest number of serial killers.

INHOSPITABLE? excuse me? if we are so like you say then why are there SO MANY foriegners coming here and living here? foriegners have more rights here than we do, they get help finding employment, homes, you name it. maybe some areas the police are more wary but I highly doubt a cop reached for his gun just for your friend approaching him.

That little story is hard to believe. A cop doesn't reach for his gun unless you are a threat, so either you're talking bullshit, or you did something stupid and decided to shorten the story to make it look innocent. Typical child.
