Send it to the editor of a newspaper you want to read it in.

Write a very interesting and concise press release, including your contact info.

Call each of the stations or print media offices and ask for the fax number and email address to the desk who would handle/ report your story.

Fax your press release.

Follow up with an email.

Lastly, follow up with a phone call.

Don't waste anyone's time - always be concise, lead with the most compelling information, grab their attention, but also take a hint if they're not interested.

And email more than once.

Faxes get thrown away and emails get deleted. So, email your story it, then call to confirm they've gotten it. Be sure to include contact info and the time of your event.

Also, keep an eye on your watch when you call. Don't call around news time because the Assignment Editors have other things on their minds.
