Spray your window with any glass cleaner and make sure that its not a sunny day. The warm sunrays will dry the window too fast which will leave some streaks. After spraying the window, you can dry it with crumpled newspaper, this will polish off anything that would leave a streak and it won't leave lint. If the window is very grimy, you might have to do it twice. You can dry the outside using up and down strokes and the inside using side to side strokes so that you can see if the remaining streaks are inside or outside.

Spray w cleaner.
Squeegee.
Dry with newspaper and get in all the corners. Newsprint removes any streaks and grit and makes them shine.
Always best to do on a cloudy day not sunny. Don't remember why but that's what Nana and Ma taught me.
Cleaning windows regularly- once or twice a year- removes grit that can scratch the glass, and preserves the life of the window. Plus the house looks bright and clean and shiny.

My grama mixed ammonia, vinegar and warm water and used a rag to wash them with and old sheets or pillow cases to dry with, don't do them while windows are in the sun or warm from the sun and go up & down on one side of window and back & forth on other side and if there are straks you'll no which side there on from that then use crumpled newspaper to wipe streaks off!

Mix water and methylated spirits 50/50 in a bowl. Crumple up a page of newspaper and dip it in the mixture. Use the dampened paper to clean the window. Before the glass dries completely, rub it again with a crumpled sheet of dry newspaper.

When I use Windex or somesuch cleaner, I always, especially in the cooler temperature months, use one of their mixes with vinegar in it. It's the ammonia that's in their basic product that's causing the streaks. Get the one without ammonia, and with vinegar. And if you really want to get tough on the job, use straight vinegar. It may have a tough smell, but it won't leave you with any streaks. God Bless you.

Cheapest and best for greener world, is scrunched up newspaper. Flick water onto the glass, put your strength to the job and rub around in circles. If window is really grubby dust down first to remove dry dirt, then use a few drops of white vinegar mixed with your 'flicking water'.
I have a house full of louvres and this works best for me. Hope it helps you too.

don't use a cleaner that contains ammonia. it will lead to streaks and fogging. i use Sprayway Glass Cleaner in the house and especially the car and truck. i find it at the hardware and auto parts stores. it works great. good luck, hope this helps.
