Fritz Haber was the brightest star of organic chemistry during the barnstorming days of the early 1900’s. He is most famous for developing a synthetic method to create ammonia gas from nitrogen and hydrogen. This was a HUGELY significant break through. Ammonia is used as a precursor chemical in many, many compounds including man-made fertilizers.
