Society would collapse. The only reason that most people get up in the morning is to go to work to get money to buy stuff they see other people with that they think they'd like to have, too.

If you charge based on a "sliding scale", you remove the incentive to "do better"; pretty soon, folks that do very stressful but financially rewarding things quit. Everybodies teeth fall out because no-one goes into dentistry because the "love teeth". And there would be no "sewage" system! Would you do that job if it didn't make you better off?

A better question to ask would be, what should happen in order for land to have no value? Land is scarce and thus has a value. In order for land to have no value, it should stop being scarce. This is only possible if the vast majority of human race disappears from the face of the earth...

Great Idea, if property is free I will take it all. I'll own all the land and houses for myself, and I'll kick your butt out onto the street.
