DO NOT OVER DRESS the baby. a light sleeper and undershirt should suffice. monitor his temperature at about 30 minute intervals to be sure he doesn't reach a dangerous level. i just went through this last week with my baby. its stressful but i feel good knowing i kept on top of it. oh and definitely dose him with meds according to his weight as that is more accurate than age. Good Luck! and don't worry, this too shall pass.

Don't give him cool rub downs, you'll cause him to catch a chill. Just keep him dressed in what your normally would based on the temperature of your house. I think he may be too young for Pedialyte, but watch him closely for dehydration. If he does get dehydrated he should probably receive an iv at the hospital. I also think he might be too young for Motrin, but ask your Dr. to find out for sure, it can help more than Tylenol but is also harder on baby's system than Tylenol. Don't give him any over the counter cold remedies, there was a study released last week that showed many babies have dangerous reactions to those medicines. Most of all, hold him a lot and talk soothingly to him. I'm sorry he's sick, it's so sad when they are sick so young because they can't understand why they feel so horribly.

Check out this website it had good tips:

Make sure to keep him hydrated and that he is dressed in warm pjs, no need to put a lot of layers on him. A humidifier may also be helpful. He will most likely sleep a lot, letting him rest and or sleep will also help him recover.

Used together, acetaminophen and a lukewarm bath may help lower a fever. Give the acetaminophen before the bath. If the bath is given alone, your child may start shivering as his or her body tries to raise its temperature again. This may make your child feel worse. Don't
use alcohol or cold water for baths.

Call your doctor if your baby has a temperature of 100.5°F (even if your baby doesn't seem sick) or a temperature of 99.5°F that has lasted more than 24 hours.

Oh my goodness! Poor baby! Make sure the doctor monitors him closely. He is so young to have the flu! If you notice any changes in his behavior, listless or very still, take him to the ER fast!
Push lots of fluids like pediasure to make sure he stays hydrated. Cool cloths on his little head and tepid baths might soothe his fever. Don't let him get chilled.
Keep the lights low to rest his eyes. Hold him close.

Put a humidifier in the room. Lots of love. Rock him and sooth him when he needs it. For my kids, when they were babies and sick and had fever, I would give them a luke warm bath with some of the Johnsons baby Vapor bath, and the vapors would help clear their noses and the bath would make them sleepy and help cool down their fever. I would put him in warm pyjamas and swaddle him, it will help to calm and relax him. Other than that, only the tylenol or infants Motrin. My kids had to take Motrin, tylenol didn't help for their fevers, but for other kids, tylenol works best. If Tylenol doesn't seem to help, ask the doctor if you can give infants Motrin, I doubt he'd object, but check just in case since he is so young. If he is congested you can give Pedicare Infant Drops. Make sure you continue to nurse or bottle feed him with formula, it is the best thing to keep him hydrated, small amount of water is ok, but milk is best. If you are nursing, try to keep it up, since you will pass of any antibodies to him that you have making his immune system stronger.

All you can do is give him the medicine I agree with the Motrin but if the fever is still not going away you can do intervals of Tylenol and Motrin. Ask the pharmacist for directions and also give him cool baths not cold. I'm sorry to here such a young child is sick.

If the fever is sufficient that you go with to grant tylenol, take your new child to urgent care. At this age, a fever isn't some thing to play round with. through 3-4 months of age, a mild fever must be dealt with with tylenol. yet this youthful... bypass to the physician.

Rehydrate him as necessary. He is too young for any strong meds for the flu. Try to keep him cool as well as the baby may get a fever and if it gets to high, go to the hospital. The enzymes that keep our bodies running die off at too high of a temperature and for a baby this may be serious.

Lukewarm baths are really the best, also, letting him sleep with just a diaper on or a tee shirt. When my son was around 7 or 8 weeks old, the NP told me to let as much air hit his skin as possible. Also, just love up on him. The only way I could get my son to sleep at that time was if he fell asleep on me!

Make sure he drinks a lot. Make sure you're getting lots of wet diapers from him. Dress him lightweight. You can bathe him in lukewarm water if he feels warm.

If he has ANY issues breathing - wheezing or looks to be having a hard time, call the doctor, that could be a BIG problem.

Poor lil' punkin - I hope he feels better!
