A Daisy Rock will be fine for the first year of lessons. As you get better you will outgrow the instrument pretty quickly.

The key question in purchasing a guitar is it use. If you are just starting out then there is nothing wrong with the daisy rock. Like most things in life the more you spend the better instrument you will get. There are a large number of starter packages out there designed to attract new users in terms of appearace and cost. Epiphone, Ibenz, Washburn, Peavy, and Daisy Rock all will give the beginer all they can handle for a fair price. If your just starting to play try one of the packages on this page http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_n_3/103-8666662-1379054?ie=UTF8&rh=n%3A11965861%2Cn%3A11969971%2Cn%3A11971191%2Cn%3A11971241%2Cn%3A11971381%2Cn%3A11971401&page=1

Bottom line there all good for a beginer pick one that appeals to your eye. Go to your local music store and plug it in and see how it feels even if you don't play at this stage. I suggest the following packagehttp://www.amazon.com/Epiphone-Paul-Special-Player-Ebony/dp/B0002F6IU4/sr=1-2/qid=1169772320/ref=sr_na_2/103-8666662-1379054. Good luck!
