I personally don’t think they are doing enough. I know my local community centre runs bingo evenings 2 nights a week and dose subsidized meals for the elderly but they have no youth club. There is not a lot for youngsters to do that dose not cost a lot of money bowling is £5.00 per game the cinema cost over £7.00 yet the government wishes to keep the youth off the street but I cant see what they are doing to encourage them. As for this question cannot be answered adequately so lets just move on I think is a copout. Why cant it be answered or is it we cant be bothered. So lets move on, sounds like a council meeting lets move on.

In my view there are plenty of activities for teenagers and the like to keep them off the street. I'm a neighbourhood warden and deal with anti social youths on the street at night. And in most youth nusiance cases i think you'll find that bad parenting to blame. For example children in our area can use the leisure centre free after 6pm on Fridays..a low turn is usual because these "kids" are getting p*ssed at the end of their street... probably with their parents!

This is one of those questions that (apart from the ASBO bit) could and probably was asked 50 years ago or more. And people will be asking the same question 50 years from now. It cannot be answered adequately so lets just move on.

oh they're creating social behaviour all right. just the wrong sort.
we need to move away from the punitive reforms that new labour put in place and make a move back to helping these troubled children

It is always nice and easy to point the finger and blame someone else for all the little turdbags wandering our streets on a night smashing up cars/payphones/bus shelters etc etc...

Give them half a chance and we will all be tagged and monitored and we will get a message sent to us just as we are about to "commit crime", is this what we want though.

It's okay naming things and categorising them but as usual, is anything truly being done?
