I have a backpack made out of that synthetic canvas stuff. So whether it's fabric or plastic, I have no idea. Anyways, I'm wanting to glue a rubber washer type thing to it. What type of glue would bond them really well? (Yes, it sounds stupid, but it's a laptop backpack and I'm trying to route some cables from one compartment to another).

If you need to glue two of the same items or two different items together, use this website:

http://www.thistothat.com/index.shtml

It has an interactive menu that allows you to match up two of the same or different items and tells you which is the best glue/adhesive to use.

Glue Fabric To Plastic

There are glues for rubber and for plastic... look on the packages at a hardware store, etc., to see which glue is recommended for which materials.

I'd go for a 2-part epoxy glue though myself, or a glue like E6000 -- either of which should hold a lot stronger than hot glue or superglue (or white glue, especially if the fabric is not real fabric).

Hot glue may work but does not hold up in hot or cold conditions. I think I would try a good craft glue like "aleen's"white tacky glue. It takes longer to dry but adheres well to both plastic and fabric.

I take it your looking for what type of glue. I would just just regular Elmer's glue all. anything too hot or too sticky will not work well. you could also sew it i have seen people do that. Also, some hobby shops has glue made for plastic.

I would use Super Glue Gel It's strong and works fast. It is put out by Creatively Yours, and can be found in any craft store.

if you are just trying to run a cable through compartments I would recommend using a grommet. It surrounds the hole so it won't fray. You can get them in any craft department and all you need is a hammer!

I second the glue gun, just make sure that you kind of rub it into the fabric, which will really help the adhesion.
