who had "everything going for him, no financial problems, smart, yada yada" who kills himself, what is your primary reaction? Pity or disgust?
If this same man was in extremely pathetic circumstances and kills himself, would your reaction be different or no?

Now replace "man" with "woman" in both cases. Would your reaction be different or no?

There are four questions. Please try answering all four:)

The first man--- if he killed himself, I would suspect something had gone really, really, wrong that I did not know about and mental illness. I would pity him, because he killed himself. If a man in a pathetic circumstance killed himself, I would think that it was the pathetic situation and mental illness. I would pity him equally with the other man, because I don't know the first man's whole situation as well. I would feel the same way about a woman. This really hits home because I know of a man who did kill himself, but he had a bad relationship. Please, if you are referring to yourself in any way, please check yourself in a hospital right now if you are serious about going through with it. Or, if you are just depressed, go see a doctor to help you get out of it.

Sorry for him and his emotional pain. Depression is a real disease. So I feel pity.

If he was in pathetic circumstances I would have even more pity that his life was not made easy in the slightest way.

No difference for man or woman.

1.my primary reaction if a man were to kill himself would be shock, not pity or disgust.

2. what is pathetic to one person may be momumental to another, so no my reaction would not be any different.

3. my primary reaction if a woman were to kill herself would still be shock.

4. and again what is pathetic to one women may be momumental to another, therefore again my reaction would still be shock.

nothing more nothing less.

I think most man would feel more empathy for the woman than for the man.
We are just hardwired that way. Don't know if it's the reciprocal for the women...
However, if it's someone we know it's a whole different story...

Man or woman, everything going him/her or not. It's makes no difference, I would feel pity. Unless it was some human garbage(criminal, racist, rapist, etc).
