Should a government sponsored identity management system (electronically) on the internet? So, everyone's identity on the internet is tracked and logged? This would be similar to your driver's license.

Why bother? In addition, if you build such a system and it works (which is a big if), it's only a matter of time before this system is used to suppress dissidents...

Also, driving is a privilege granted by state; identity is an inalienable right. In fact, it could be argued that a person has a right for multiple identities...
