A sharp single edge razor blade is an excellent way to remove stickers from windows. You lay the razor's sharp edge flat against the window and slide it under the sticker. Use windex as you scrape to provide lubrication and minimize scratching on the glass.

As far as the one on the paint, that will be more difficult. You can try a blow dryer to melt the glue on the back of the sticker, but chances are that it has been there so long that the glue is dehydrated and solid, so the heat wouldn't work. In that case, it will be a piece by piece effort. Do not use the razor blade as you will remove the paint. You can try gunk remover (try "Goof-off") to remove the residual adhesive, but be careful to test it on an inconspicuous place on the paint first to make sure it does not cause damage.

Go to your local automotive paint supply or body shop supply store. There are a few different things they should have available to remove stickers and decals. One is a rubber wheel that basically works like an eraser ont he decals, another is a heated scraper that will heat the sticker up and use a razor blade to scrape it away. These in addition to decal remover liquids, but with the liquids, you have to get it down to just the adhesive before you can use those.

I've never used the scraper type, I don't feel confident using a razor blade on a painted surface since it can scrape some of the paint away as well. But I have used the wheels, and they work great, especially on smaller decals like bumper stickers and pinstripes.

I have two suggestions for you to try. First off, try WD-40. Spray it on and let it soak in to the sticker. It should just wipe off with a rag after that. Don't do it in sunlight, though. It could stain the paint. Tips for doing this used to be on their website. The other idea is using a heat gun to loosen the glue and then scrape it off with a razor blade. I would use caution doing this, though, as it is really easy to remove paint and all. Also, if the sticker has been there several years as you suspect, the paint will not be weathered under the sticker as it is around it. Hope this helps.

Usually, you can take a heat gun to it. Just blow the heat at it for a few seconds. This makes the material shrink up (if it's a vinyl decal) and it's really easy to peel it right off. After that, I just use a little bit of Windex on a paper towel and buff any adhesive off. My dad's a sign maker, so I help him alot with this type stuff. Good luck, dude.

depends on whether they are vinyl, paper, etc. you may be able to peel them off whole if you do it slowly - start at one corner and peel back diagonally - don't pull it straight out away from the surface but pull it back on itself as close to the surface as you can - do it slowly and if it starts to rip pick the edge off at the start of the tear and peel it back too until you get past the end of the tear. The ones on the window should be a bit easier. You can use varsol or goo-gone to remove any glue residue that may remain.

vinyl will be easier to remove than paper

Use a heat gun or blow dryer.Don't heat the paint just the sticker. You just need to get it warm so the adhesive gets tacky again.
