About 7 inches long. One is kinda chasing the other around with its mouth open. The other vibrates when it is close. They generally get along and always eat & sleep together. Right next to each other. Does anyone know of any videos that are available showing courting or mating oscars?

Look closely at the area near the tail, you should see their bredding tubes out if they are ready to mate. They sometimes become agressive especially the female. Sometimes they have to be separated.

They are getting ready to mate but they could kill each other in the process. Put a flower pot in the tank, on it's side' to make a cave. Then she can lay her eggs on the ceiling of the cave and you will end up with a thousand Oscars that you can't get rid of.

The best use for baby oscars is to feed them to the parents.

Ciclids usually act as you describe, the also will grab each other by the mouth and vibrate. You can tell if the female is about to lay eggs by the extension of the ovapositor, which is the egg laying tube near the rectum.

I have Oscars also...they are trying to mate....lay a flat stone in the tank somewhere....thats where she will lay her eggs. You will also see them pushing the gravel to get to the bottom of the tank...so they can have a flat surface. They will also fight and do something called lip locking...they basically try and bite each other lips off. Keep a close eye on them because they can get hurt really bad..try oscarfish.com you will find all your answers there....MXMASTR
