There is a guy at school I don't really like. But I am the only person who he ever calls to go out with or anything. So tonight I am going out with some friends with school (he also knows them), and while I was taking a nap earlier he called and left a voicemail asking what I am doing tonight. I can't ignore it, because I see him everyday, and he'll know I ignored it. So do I tell him the truth and hope he doesn't try and come out with us (and also by telling him the truth I will be informing him that people he thought were his friends didn't invite him out)? Or do I lie and hope he doesn't find out? Or is there some middle ground option?

You could just tell him that you made plans with some other friends. You're not obligated to give specifics. If you do tell him who the others are, you could say that there were limited accommodations or that you were invited to join the group and weren't at liberty to bring someone else along. You might also explain to him that even though you're all friends, it doesn't mean that you all have to do everything together all the time. Not everything has to be a whole-group event. Good luck!

Any lie you tell him he will find out. I think your best bet is to not answer him. Ok, so he knows you ignored the voicemail its better than lying about the situation and making things way worse than just ignoring him.
