i've been playing guitar for 2 years but i learned a bit wrong so, i've been using my thumb instead of a pick, but most recently i started to use a pick. It's very frustrating trying to all of the sudden learn with a pick. I use one on chords, but i can't seem to use it on single note songs.
Should i keep using my thumb or use a pick?

Pick. Thumb is O.K. for bass. Hold the pick so that it's point is coming straight out from the first joint of your thumb. Your wrist will be slightly bent in. Your index finger will be pointing back towards the base of your thumb. This is how flat-pick acoustic guitarists and mandolin players hold it, and you know how well they can play single notes. You'll be surprised how easy single notes are using this method. Luck.

You can use you thumb if you want. Heck Mark Knopfler plays with his thumb and he's seems to do ok. I've been to several Clapton concerts. He uses both. Use you thumb and a finger or two. That will make it easier. I play both ways. Depends on my mood and if I can find a pick.

it is okay in case you only use %. each and every time. yet you should attempt practice makes use of palms plucking and noticing the diverse sound personality that beeng produce. so it relies upon on what sound personality you should go with to grant, one in all those the song you performed, and how a lot guitar you take advantage of. in case you play electric powered guitar or individuals guitar, many guitarists use %.. it is sweet for strumming, besides as for soloing. yet many also use palms in playing a number of those guitar. bues guitarists that makes use of people guitar like robert johnson use palms yet in case you play classical guitar an you play classical song, it ought to apply palms. yet some yet no longer many and uncommon also makes use of %. even as playing classic guitar

Just like everything else, it'll take some getting used to, and some practice. Just be patient and continue to practice...it'll come. Don't go back using your thumb again.......continue on with the pick. best of luck and jam on.
