When you buy a whole chicken that comes with the organs (heart, kidneys, liver etc.)... do you cook up and eat the organs or do you discard them??? i feed them to my dog... but i know some people eat them.. what do you do with them???

I have ate the liver,heart, and gizzard, but i have never seen the kidneys before.

The lady who cooks for me buys chicken already cut up most of the time. When she buys a whole chicken it's already cleaned out\hollow so no innards to deal with. I definitely wouldn't eat the innards if there were any. All the contaminants in a creature's system lodge in the liver, kidneys, etc, where they're filtered out of the blood, etc. so I wouldn't want to eat impurities or toxins, even if they are cooked. Yuk.

Well we usually make a gravy and add the organs. We usually wind up using the heart and gizzard but I don't eat liver so the dogs get the liver.

I don't buy those chickens. For the price difference, it's worth it to me to not have to throw away stuff. Check into what the people who cut up and clean the chickens at the factory get paid...isn't your time worth more than that? Mine sure is. Besides, I *hate* handling that stuff!
My mother used to throw away about 1/3 of every chicken she bought!

I've never cooked a whole chicken! I usually buy already cooked rotisserie chickens from like Savemart!

I throw them out because I don't have a dog, and my friend with a dog won't give him real food, and I don't know what else to do with them.
