And get compensation for not being able to in the past, compensation for having to piss in a pot and having to empty it, Sky TV, playstations and all courtesy of us honest law abidding folkes. It is a complete farce. Exactly what is the punishment in prisons of today?

I'm with you on this. The decent law abiding people of Britain have no rights we are only a cash machine for the government, we pay the money they squander it on dossers, illegal immigrants and criminals what benefits do we actually get? I can be quoted over and over again how well off I am for having NHS and a decent police force etc but the truth is that most of our recources are spent on those that contribute nothing to the country and most people in prison fall into that category. Therefore my answer is no, if you break the laws you have no rights, these rights should be earned once they are decent law abiding, tax paying citizens!!!

Paul Cavadino, Nacro's (A Crime reduction charity) chief executive, said: "Depriving prisoners of the vote contradicts the aim of rehabilitating offenders. If we want prisoners to become morally responsible citizens, it makes no sense to refuse them the responsibility of exercising the vote."

I can see the point of allowing prisoners to vote, as it is one of the basic rights in a democracy, but I do think that we need to get back to a time when prisons really were a deterrant.

The rights of the victim should ALWAYS come before the rights of the criminal.
