When was final fantasy 13 coming out?

It's entirely up to Square-Enix (and the game's popularity) how many FFXIII games are released, but at this time 3 are in development under the name "Fabula Nova Crystallis" ("The New Tale of the Crystal" in Latin).

The main title, for the PS3, is slated to release December 31 of this year in Japan, and following in typical SquEnix fashion that means that we'll see it in the USA sometime during the late spring or summer of 2008. That could be pushed further back towards the holiday season if, like Final Fantasy XII, extensive work needs to be done converting the dialogue, script, and more to English.

The other two titles are Final Fantasy Agito XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Agito is a wireless game for cell phones, PDAs, and other mobile devices, which will come out in Japan shortly before Final Fantasy XIII as a prequel. If it's successful there and the market is warm in the USA (we're still a few years behind Japan in adopting mobile technology), it will likely come over to the US shortly before the main title as well. Versus is the third title in the series, set to release a year after FF XIII in Japan (so we're likely to see it a year after the main title in the US as well - sometime during 2009). It will also be a full-length PS3 game.

There can only be one "Final Fantasy 13's". The next one would be called FF14. Duh.
