If this is the look you want to achieve then read this.
What I usually do is outline my eyes starting at the bottom from my inner towards the outer and then the top from the outside in. From there I use my finger to lightly go over the colour thus softening the pencil mark. This will blend the eyeliner and will give you that smokey look you want. I don't use eye shadow, no need for everyday make up. Hope this helps.

to avoid looking like a raccoon if you put too much on, and to help conceal mistakes, start out using a dark or smoky gray eyeliner. I prefer to use pencil liner, because it is harder to make mistakes, which may be better for you. To line the lower eye, pull down on the lower lid slightly, and apply the liner to the the skin just above the lashes. To line the upper eye, apply a thin line to the eye, as close to the lashes as possible. Then smudge the liner slightly with your finger. This is the trick that will make the liner blend, and will bring it either closer or farther away from the eye, depending on where you want it. You can also go the website below!

The way there are several ways to do it. I actually stopped using pencil eyeliners and went for the shadow liners, it works so much better, and give a little more of a natural look. just get a little make eye brush the thin one, and some black eyeshadow like Jane's Eye zingers. It's the blackest and does well with the Smokey look. although if you want to use the pencil, just trace your eye, then take your finger and lightly smudge it back and forth on the the line, and you should have smoky eye's.

Well try to apply the eyeliner as close as you can to the lashes, and line it just a bit out of the outer corner of the eye. Then take a cotton swab and lightly smugged from inside to outside (this way it makes it thicker and less noticeable and it also fills the little white gaps).Do that at the bottom part of the eye to.And instead of black try dark gray (its not that strong).I hope this is useful!

smokey is not thin
black eyeliner is not used
Start with a clean palette- clean your eyelids and dry them, put a thin coat of pressed powder on them too the lashes.
Dark Gray Shadow-hence SMOKEY
Sweep the shadow along the eye inside to outside. Apply the shadow from the lash line up to the creases of the eye folds.
Blend it at that point.
Take a Slate pencil with a sharp edge and line AT under/over your lash line from inside to outside of eye.
Smudge the line on the bottom.
Then use black mascara and heavy on the top lashes, and light on the bottom.
Heidi Klum often wears those smokey eyes, so look at hers.
Be sure to color IN your eyebrows with the color hair color- if not they disappear.
I prefer the MOCHA eyes over the smokey ones.
Use Coffee color and dark brown liners, black mascara. Its not so harsh and it looks better on most skin tones.

Usually when you do a smoky eye look, you don't use eyeliner because it is too defined. Use a dark shadow with an angled eye liner brush and put it under your bottom lashline, also with dark eyeshadow on the top lid.
