Yes, many many things we take for granted today would pro bally not even exist if not for the space program. Computers, cell phones, microelectronics, satellite communications, GPS, and even cable TV all have their origins in the space program. And that is just a few of hundreds of innovations and engineering "miracles" provided by our friends in the space program. Research this subject a little, you'll be amazed!

I'm assuming you mean the National Space program, including everything from the first rockets through mars exploration? Of course it has been worth it. Although we have not established outposts on the moon or any star trek like utopia, we have gained many things through the space program such as aircraft development for quicker and more efficient flights, kidney dialysis machines, satellite communications, firefighter equipment (first developed for space use), cordless tools, many advanced plastics... this list goes on. Without the funding and the resourcefulness put into the space program, many of these would not have been so quick to develop.

Anything that helps us study how to get off this damned rock is worth it.
But it's been grossly mismanaged, and really--so many missions are not for "the people." We've been a little misled in thinking the "Space Program" is civilian. If you look at launch rosters, you'll see a lot of payloads marked only "DOD."
Having scientifically illiterate congresspeople/populace doesn't help either....
So again, yes, but in a head-banging-against-the-wall way.

Yes I think so. The above mentioned velcro, laptop computers, telemetry, radio communications, the discovery of the active volcano on Io,the awe-inspiring views from the Hubble telescope....definitely woth the money, I do not however agree with the placing of a base on the moon or a manned mission to Mars by the USA. Mars would be a great feat to accomplish as long as it was a multi-country endeavour.

Absolutely, and we should spend a lot more time and energy on it.
We could waste our time trying to make earth a paradise instead of course, but then eventually a cataclysm will come along and wipe us out if we stay just on earth.
Expansion beyond the earth is the only way to ensure the survival of the human race and our history, or everything up till now will one day be all for nothing.

Yes it has. Hundreds of thousands of products from air traffic control, batteries, computers to ipods to auto and hand held GPS navation systems, to solar cells have been made cheaper, smaller, better by what we have learned in the space program. Weather satellites alone have save countless lives and money.

Yes, the space program has definately been worth it. because of it we have satellites, without satellites we wouldnt have cell phones, satellite television, hurricane tracking systems, weather stations that give good predictions, and tell what the weather is doing.
without the satellites we couldn't get further in missle and nuclear defence systems etc. Space program is important.

we have expanded our thought processes and we have learned so much, I would like to see more funding go into it. Our Space Program is the probably going to be the savior of the human race one day.

learning about the star and that it was a star was huge.... n then man figured between 2-4 billion years from now, the earth and all inner planets of our solar system will be destroyed.... right now NASA is researching and sending out probes to Titan(moon), Europa(moon) and pluto(phases of BECOMING a planet)
